I cut my teeth in television starting with a children's TV show on PBS called Newton's Apple in St. Paul, Minnesota. After a week of interning, I knew I wanted a career as a TV producer and I did just that.
PBS led me to NBC-KARE-11 News where I produced the Saturday Morning Show and from there I landed my first job as an Associate Producer and Booker for a national morning show on UPN called Everyday Living.
Before I knew it, I was a Field Producer for the Discovery Channel on a home improvement show called Gimme Shelter. This experience led me to A&E Networks in New York, producing 200 Biography shows, promotions for the History Channel, Ancient Mysteries, Modern Marvels, and many more.
Despite shifting my career path to become a trailblazer in Content Marketing, my passion for video production and editing never faded away. In fact, my skills in this field have only grown stronger over time, allowing me to bring unique and engaging perspectives to the content I create. And now with A.I. I feel the digital paint brushes only enhance the artistic value of every project I get to do.
What does TV producing have to do with running your business? A lot. I would know. I was a TV producer for ten years - before heading full force into marketing. Former TV Producers are goal-oriented by nature. Not just for jobs in public relations or marketing, but also nearly any position that requires teamwork, multi-tasking, and communications. Producers are team builders and leaders. They constantly collaborate and learn how their different team members think and work. They know how to leverage these traits to create a more effective whole. Producers are also experienced leaders. They have to give directions and constructive criticism to anchors, reporters, writers, producers, videographers, designers, on-air guests (like performers, executives, and politicians), and other team members. They also know how to stay open to others’ ideas and feedback, and can delegate appropriately. As a result, producers are excellent communicators. At the core, producers know how to convey ideas in compelling and persuasive ways.
Multi-tasking is a way of life. Both business leaders and producers need to juggle numerous responsibilities. They have to know how to switch effortlessly from one task to the next. They have to think creatively and pitch new ideas. They have to problem-solve and stick to a budget. Their ability to wear many hats makes them valuable for any office. If a producer doesn’t know how to do something, you can be sure they’ll know how to find someone who does. They are problem-solving pros. You can’t make a television show without something going wrong at some point. Just like corporate managers, television producers have learned how to identify problems, and also how to find or develop creative solutions, sometimes on short notice. As a producer — I ALWAYS had a contingency plan. You never know when a story won’t get filed on time or when a reporter won’t make it to the location on time.
I have a vast experience in television production. I worked for A&E Network in New York during the late 90s, where I was involved in the creation and production of engaging content and promotions for the number-one television network at that time. Before that, I produced the popular home improvement show "Gimme' Shelter" for the Discovery Channel. My work in the industry is a testament to my creativity and unwavering commitment to excellence.
I was a prolific writer and producer who worked for the A&E Network's Biography Channel and Biography International. During my time with the network, I produced an impressive portfolio of more than 200 Biography promotions branding the program showcasing the lives of some of the most iconic figures in history and pop culture for the network. In addition to these, I also worked on popular Modern Marvels and Ancient Mysteries, where I brought my unique storytelling skills to explore some of the most fascinating mysteries of our time.
The last program promotion I branded and produced for the A&E networks was the show Modern Marvels about incredible technology and how it works. These programs can now be seen on Vault Amazon Channel, History, HISTORY Vault Apple TV Channel, Disney Plus, Hoopla, or for free with ads on The Roku Channel, and Freevee.
