After careful consideration, I chose to attend art school at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. This decision allowed me to broaden my creative skills across various mediums. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for video production and advertising. This led me to pursue an interdisciplinary major at the University of Minnesota, where I combined three majors to focus on TV production. I studied Rhetoric, Speech Broadcasting, and Sociology, and earned enough credits to attain two degrees!
This is where my internships began: first at PBS's Newton's Apple and then at NBC KARE-11 News in Minneapolis for their Saturday Morning Show. Thanks to these experiences, I landed my first job as an Associate Producer for a national talk show on UPN called Newscope, which later changed its name to Everyday Living. I also worked as a booker for the show. This opportunity led me to my next role with a home improvement show on the Discovery Channel called Gimme' Shelter, where I field-produced over 50 segments and directed talent for the show. The show is now airing on HGTV.
I then moved to New York, where I worked for A&E Networks producing engaging TV promotions for the number-one television network at that time A&E's History Channel. My work in the industry is a testament to my creativity and unwavering commitment to excellence.
BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL
The work I produced for the History Channel as a prolific writer and producer led me to work for A&E Network's Biography Channel and Biography International promotions department. I produced an impressive portfolio of more than 200 Biography promotions branding the program for the international channel and showcasing the lives of some of the most iconic figures in history and pop culture for the network. In addition to these, I also produced video promotions for Ancient Mysteries.
MODERN MARVELS SHOW
The last program promotion I branded and produced for A&E Networks was the show Modern Marvels about incredible technology and how it works. These programs can now be seen on the Vault Amazon Channel, History Channel, HISTORY Vault Apple TV Channel, Disney Plus, Hoopla, or for free with ads on The Roku Channel, and Freevee.
During the inception of the internet, I was involved in the creation of TV productions and web pages for various TV shows in "Silicon Alley". Subsequently, this led to my role as a Website Producer at Deja.com, a rate and review website. Following this, I undertook a project involving the production of 9 out of 29 NBA websites for the National Basketball Association. This experience paved the way for my tenure at Parallel D Productions, where I oversaw the production of interactive TV programming accessible online. Subsequently, I took a hiatus to start a family, during which time I continued to produce videos and websites. This path eventually culminated in my role as a Content Strategist specializing in online marketing in California for Panther Productions, Cox Media, Charter Media, and Hub Media.
In 2010 I landed a contract with RAPP, a worldwide marketing agency in Los Angeles where I worked as a Content Strategy consultant for Toyota, Bank of America, and Schwabb, to name a few. All the strategies were for content campaigns that included video, apps, books, print, PR, social, email, and websites. I collaborated with experienced designers, copywriters, and analytics teams to:
The summer of the economic crash I launched New Dawn Media in 2008, one of the first online marketing agencies. With the birth of social media, I was a pioneer in what is now known as Content Marketing and was one of the original founders of this industry. I established executive leadership and management of the company’s marketing activities, which included: Corporate marketing, partner/channel marketing, product marketing, content marketing, PR and services marketing.
